Level 3 BTEC National
BTEC Nationals are vocational qualifications that provide specialist, work-related learning. Developed by over 5,000 universities, employers and professional bodies with employability at the heart, you can develop the skills and confidence you will need to step into your future.
Extended Certificate (equivalent to one A Level)
You will study a range of units including:
- Exploring Business
- Marketing
- Personal and Business Finance
- Recruitment and Selection
This course is designed to be taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate Level 3 vocational qualifications or A Levels. It’s a great option if you are interested in learning about the business sector alongside other fields of study.
Careers and further study progression
BTEC Nationals in Business offer excellent progression routes to higher education, apprenticeships or employment, providing a strong introduction to the business sector and giving learners a solid platform of knowledge and skills.

Entry criteria
At least one of these three requirements must be met:
- Grade 5 in GCSE Business
- Grade 5 in GCSE English Language
- Grade 5 in GCSE English Literature
(Note: If a student has taken GCSE Business, they are expected to have achieved at least grade 4 in this qualification)
Assessment
A mixture of examinations and internally assessed (moderated) coursework assignments.
Grades are awarded at Distinction*, Distinction, Merit or Pass, equivalent
to A Level grades A* to E, and carry the same UCAS entry points.
